Take part in the annual Deal Me In: Next Generation competition at the Industry Conference. This MBA-style case study competition challenges participants to work in teams to explore how technology can create measurable value within the waste and recycling industry.
The Challenge
This year’s competition focuses on technology-driven value creation. Each team will be assigned a different technology area and challenged to become subject-matter experts in that category. Teams will evaluate how their technology can be applied within a waste and recycling company, including:
- The business or operational challenges it can solve
- Opportunities for revenue growth, cost reduction, productivity, or safety improvements
- Investment and implementation requirements
- Expected ROI, payback period, and financial impact
- Key risks, limitations, and barriers to adoption
- Practical recommendations for companies considering the technology
Financial Perspective from Stifel
Stifel will provide a broader look at how technology investments fit within a company’s overall capital and financial strategy. The discussion will explore topics such as capital allocation, accelerated depreciation, valuation considerations, and how major investments can affect both near-term performance and long-term enterprise value.
How it Works
Teams will spend Monday and Tuesday collaborating, researching, developing their business case, and preparing their presentation. On Wednesday, teams will present their findings during the General Session, giving attendees a practical look at the opportunities, financial considerations, and realities of technology adoption across the industry.
The Competition
Charitable contributions will be made to organizations selected by the winning teams. Winners will be announced immediately following the case study presentation and will be acknowledged Wednesday evening at the Awards Dinner at the Grand Ole Opry. The first-place team will be awarded their charitable donation and recognized at Stifel’s Investor Summit at WasteExpo 2027.
